Looking for the Perfect Twitter Client for Android? Here are our top 5 suggestions

Twitter has gradually taken over from Facebook as the social network of choice for the people. Ease of usage, limited things to do, chance to interact with people from your niche even though you may not know them are just some of the reasons why twitter has become the social media of choice, at least for those who like to keep up with all the recent happenings in life. Most of the big stories today are broken on Twitter even before they reach the news agencies or some of the more traditional forms of media. As a result, having the right Twitter client can be extremely important.

Twitter apps

Here are the five top Twitter Clients for Android that you must check out:

1) Default Twitter Client for Android

Twitter for Android

If you are a hobby Tweeter or just like to read tweets to keep up the pace with the community, TFA or Twitter for Android is a fantastic client which is available for free. Another big advantage that official Twitter app has that there are no restrictions on number of API calls it can make, so there will never be an issue of you exceeding the number of tokens in a short period of time. Not just this, TFA is also the only Twitter client which brings a very detailed listing of your Twitter notifications. You get to know when somebody has followed you, retweeted you, favorited a tweet as well as get tailored notifications for your favorite people as and when they tweet. This is rather useful if you like to stay on top of your notifications. We always advise everyone to definitely have TFA on their device at least for the notifications and maybe use a third party client to make use of some of the other features they might bring like muting, tweetmarking etc.

2) Plume for Twitter

Plume for Twitter

Plume is one of the very best third part Twitter Clients for Android. There is a free version of the application which supports ads, as well as a paid version which we highly recommend purchasing. The application has several good features like adding colors to tweets, connecting your Pocket account to easily share tweets to that, Tweetmarking setup so that other apps which use Tweetmarker will know till where have you read the timeline, theme options as well as features to mute people or certain keywords which are extremely important. Plume for Twitter is perhaps the most complete Twitter client after TFA but it does have an issue with draining a lot of battery. However, disabling auto refresh in the background is a good way of getting around this problem.

3) Echofon for Twitter

Echofon for Twitter

Echofon is perhaps the only Twitter Client that is available for both iOS and Android devices. So, if you use an iPad or an iPhone and are moving to an Android device, then Echofon would perhaps be the best app to help to keep sync between the two platforms. Just like Plume, there is a free as well as a paid version of the application available. The free version does support ads. If you are using an AMOLED device, then we highly recommend using Echofon with its black theme. It is perhaps one of the most beautiful experiences of running through the timeline and the white text literally feels like it is floating on display. This also makes for one of the most energy efficient experiences of browsing Twitter. You have the ability to mute users, receive notifications for mentions and DMs as well as managing multiple accounts on Echofon.

4) Robird for Twitter

Robird for Twitter

Robird for Twitter is the best Twitter client if you are planning to use Twitter on an Android tablet. Unlike most of the other Twitter apps, Robird has a dedicated tablet UI which takes advantage of the extra screen estate on tablets making the whole experience richer. One gripe we have Robird is that it does not have an auto link shortener, so if somebody has shared a huge link, it will display as it is, instead of condensing it. The application also has push notifications and background syncing as well as the ability to keep your Timeline streaming. You have the mute option for both keywords and users as well as the support for the Pebble smartwatch built right in the application.

5) Tweedle for Twitter

Tweedle for Twitter

Tweedle is perhaps the cleanest designed Twitter apps out there. It is in stark contrast to the over populated and cramped up interfaces of TFA and Plume. First look at Tweedle, and you get a feeling, this what a Google designed Twitter app would look like. It has the same minimalistic UI that we have seen in places like Google Now and other Google services. However, there are a couple of limitations with the app as it does not have support for streaming or drafts. You cannot make lists from within the app and neither can you report abuse from within the application. Apart from that the app is solid, extremely good looking, not too heavy on the memory and best of all, available for absolutely free.

These were the five twitter applications that we always ended up going back to after trying several of them out. Each of these apps has a strong point when compared to the others. Since there are just so many good Twitter Clients for Android, we would like to give special mentions to the likes of Tweetlanes, Talon, Carbon, Twicca and Twidere which have also impressed us.

Which Twitter client do you use everyday? Do let us know in the section below as we love to hear from you.

Top 10 Android Applications - Android Apps to Automate Tasks

I like the thing about Android is "Freedom to Create". As it is open source so, many developers have made stunning application to tweak their smartphones. Here in this post I am gonna share Top 10 Applications which can Automate the Tasks on your Android Device or Smartphone.

Listed in this post are 10 Android apps that provide shortcuts, configurations, triggers and rules to let you get more out of your Android device. You can automate many things to happen on your device based on location or time triggers. On top of that, some of these apps let you record calls, or even touch events.
#1 SkipLock
Screen Lock is good thing, but sometimes it is annoying for example you are browsing a website or using facebook and waiting for your friend's next comment the screen goes locked. SkipLock is the best application which can temporarily disable screen lock while you are using a specific wifi connection. To disable your screen lock when you are using your own home or office wifi just manually add your wifi network.
#2 App Cache Cleaner
Every app that you install slowly takes up more of your device’s internal memory. Most of your app data is cached by your device’s memory to ensure it loads faster in the future. In the long run, this ultimately slows down the performance of your device. App Cache Cleaner will clean your cache for you automatically. Enable this feature in the app settings where you can also set when the app can clean up your cache, from every 6 minutes (min) to every 7 days (max).
#3 Velis Auto Brightness
If you think your device is a little too bright or too dim for your eyes in certain environments, you may want to try this app. Velis Auto Brightness not only uses the app to adjust your device’s brightness settings automatically based on light sensitivity to the surrounding environment, it also lets you control your brightness settings at every ambient level.

#4 Automated Device
There are some things that you do every single day, and there are times when you wish you canautomate some of the things that you can do with your Android device. This app can let you do that. If, say, you carpool with a friend and want to let them know when to be ready for your arrival, you can automate the device to send your friend a text message when you reach a certain location. It takes a while to figure out what rules to input, but that is actually half of the fun in using this app.

Did you know that you can now record your phone conversations using just an app? Try Call Recorder to automatically record phone conversations on your smartphone. You can then send your phone recordings to your email or to delete recordings that are not as important to save space in your phone. Alternatively, you can mark important recordings to prevent it from automatically being deleted. Note that recording phone calls may not be legal in some places.

MacroDroid allows you to create a custom macro to automate tasks on your Android device. You can use it to turn off bluetooth, silence your phone, disable data when you’re at the office, home or outside. You can even set it to read aloud incoming text messages for you or make a quick photo upload to your favourite social network by simply shaking your phone. There is also a template section where you can use ready-made macros instead of creating your own.

With Llama, you can trigger an action on your device when you are at a designated location. It uses your cell tower to detect your smartphone’s location; it is not GPS-dependent. Trigger your bluetooth headset to connect with your phone when you are out for your morning run, or trigger your reminder to pick up groceries if you are near your favorite grocery store.

RepetitTouch lets you record your touch events (any touch input that happens on your device while it’s recording). You can then replay your touch events to do repetitive or complicated actions automatically for you. The free version of the app limits users to 10 mins of recording time, no loop mode and no multi-touch input. It also requires "root" access. The full version is available for $5.49.
Create or download rules to automate your device to run certain tasks. Automateit lets you set triggers from the likes of activity recognition, time or location triggers which will show notification, launch homescreen etc. If you’re not good with setting rules, this app comes with a Rules Market where you can download and use rules setup by other AutomateIt users. The downloads will require points, which you can gain by creating rules, sharing rules on social networks, inviting friends to use the app or buying them.

If you’re familiar with IFTTT, Atooma will be real easy to use. It uses the conditional events via IF and DO. With that you can create your trigger and action rules. The interface is color-coordinated to make it easier to setup rules and triggers. Not big on setting up rules? Then download rules or draw inspiration from what other Atooma users have setup.

Protect Yourselves From Attacks On Public WiFi Networks With WiFi Protector

  •  238EmailShare

WiFi Protector - Android app

All the anti-virus programs in the world won’t help you if you log on the public WiFi at a coffee shop. Most of us do it to check our emails, log-in to facebook or google something. Now it’s so usual that you see half the people in any coffee shop on their Smartphones. But that has hidden dangers.

In a public network without any serious security measures, like most coffee places, any experienced user can:

• Steal our passwords
• Cyber stalk us
• Access our social profiles
• Disrupt our Internet traffic
• Having stolen our passwords, access our banking account

The cause for that are the known security assessment tools, which have already been transferred to applications that anyone can use. With the touch of a button anyone can see who is logged on a network and maybe even access our devices. Tests have been performed in a controlled environment with the most known Android tools and with WiFi Protector in our device we are protected from all of them.

WiFi Protector is a simple application which runs in the background when we are connected to a WiFi network. If another device attempt to use an attack against us, the application warns us that we’re under attack and even shows us the IP and MAC address of the device attacking us. That means that we know the guilty party and we can even have them prosecuted. Since the MAC address is unique to each device the authorities will be able to find them. The application has the ability to shut down our device’s WiFi any time it’s attacked, although if we had the root option activated we can continue our browsing uninterrupted and fully protected.

The most common attacks from Android devices are:

• ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) spoofing/poisoning
• MiTM (Man in The Middle)
• DoS (Denial of Service)

If you are ever attacked like that, you shouldn’t let it be. You never know what the attacker has gotten from your device. These attacks are illegal and you should contact the authorities if you think you have been attacked.

You should download the application from Play Store for free and install it on all your Android devices immediately.

To know more about the functionality of the WiFi Protector, have a look at the following video.

Microsoft releases OneNote for free on Mac and Windows, adds new note-taking tools

Attention note-takers: Your on-screen scribbling options just got a whole lot more diversified and a whole lot cheaper, thanks to the release of free OneNote programs for Macs and PCs alike—releases buoyed by new features that bursts OneNote's note-taking functionality out of the service's walled garden and into the arms of third-party sources.

Though a OneNote app has been available on iOS devices for a while, the new release of an app for home and school use only marks the Evernote competitor's virgin foray into the world of Apple-powered PCs. Macworld spent some hands-on time with the software and already has in-depth impressions of OneNote for Mac available.

onenote windows

OneNote's Windows desktop program is now free. (Click to enlarge.)

Likewise, while OneNote has long been freely available as standalone Windows 8 and Windows Phone apps, PC users used to have to pony up for Office to gain access to the note-taking software. No more! The desktop OneNote program is now freely available to all, though it lacks the Outlook integration, Sharepoint support, and version history capabilities of the paid software. (Buying Office 2013 or Office 365 adds those capabilities.) All the core features are there and fully functional, however. Even better, it's ad-free.

OneNote, many sources

Microsoft also baked in some new, Evernote-esque abilities to allow you to save notes from outside sources.

office lens onenote clean

The Office Lens WP app automatically crops, cleans, and rejiggers photos to make the pictures readable, as shown in this Microsoft-supplied example.

The new OneNote Clipper bookmark lets Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari users seamlessly save snapshots of webpages to their Quick Notes. Forwarding messages and web links on your phone to a new me@onenote.com address does the same, assuming you're using the email address associated with your OneNote account. Meanwhile, the new Office Lens camera app for Windows Phones basically functions as a scanner for OneNote, complete with optical character recognition technology good for capturing text in hand notes, paper documents, and whiteboards.

The new functionality doesn't end in Microsoft's arms, however. The company also announced a OneNote API that allows third-party developers to connect to the note-taking service, and the fruits of that labor are already visible in the OneNote app store.

The freebie OneNote programs and all the new apps and features are already available on OneNote.com.
