Top 10 Android Applications - Android Apps to Automate Tasks

I like the thing about Android is "Freedom to Create". As it is open source so, many developers have made stunning application to tweak their smartphones. Here in this post I am gonna share Top 10 Applications which can Automate the Tasks on your Android Device or Smartphone.

Listed in this post are 10 Android apps that provide shortcuts, configurations, triggers and rules to let you get more out of your Android device. You can automate many things to happen on your device based on location or time triggers. On top of that, some of these apps let you record calls, or even touch events.
#1 SkipLock
Screen Lock is good thing, but sometimes it is annoying for example you are browsing a website or using facebook and waiting for your friend's next comment the screen goes locked. SkipLock is the best application which can temporarily disable screen lock while you are using a specific wifi connection. To disable your screen lock when you are using your own home or office wifi just manually add your wifi network.
#2 App Cache Cleaner
Every app that you install slowly takes up more of your device’s internal memory. Most of your app data is cached by your device’s memory to ensure it loads faster in the future. In the long run, this ultimately slows down the performance of your device. App Cache Cleaner will clean your cache for you automatically. Enable this feature in the app settings where you can also set when the app can clean up your cache, from every 6 minutes (min) to every 7 days (max).
#3 Velis Auto Brightness
If you think your device is a little too bright or too dim for your eyes in certain environments, you may want to try this app. Velis Auto Brightness not only uses the app to adjust your device’s brightness settings automatically based on light sensitivity to the surrounding environment, it also lets you control your brightness settings at every ambient level.

#4 Automated Device
There are some things that you do every single day, and there are times when you wish you canautomate some of the things that you can do with your Android device. This app can let you do that. If, say, you carpool with a friend and want to let them know when to be ready for your arrival, you can automate the device to send your friend a text message when you reach a certain location. It takes a while to figure out what rules to input, but that is actually half of the fun in using this app.

Did you know that you can now record your phone conversations using just an app? Try Call Recorder to automatically record phone conversations on your smartphone. You can then send your phone recordings to your email or to delete recordings that are not as important to save space in your phone. Alternatively, you can mark important recordings to prevent it from automatically being deleted. Note that recording phone calls may not be legal in some places.

MacroDroid allows you to create a custom macro to automate tasks on your Android device. You can use it to turn off bluetooth, silence your phone, disable data when you’re at the office, home or outside. You can even set it to read aloud incoming text messages for you or make a quick photo upload to your favourite social network by simply shaking your phone. There is also a template section where you can use ready-made macros instead of creating your own.

With Llama, you can trigger an action on your device when you are at a designated location. It uses your cell tower to detect your smartphone’s location; it is not GPS-dependent. Trigger your bluetooth headset to connect with your phone when you are out for your morning run, or trigger your reminder to pick up groceries if you are near your favorite grocery store.

RepetitTouch lets you record your touch events (any touch input that happens on your device while it’s recording). You can then replay your touch events to do repetitive or complicated actions automatically for you. The free version of the app limits users to 10 mins of recording time, no loop mode and no multi-touch input. It also requires "root" access. The full version is available for $5.49.
Create or download rules to automate your device to run certain tasks. Automateit lets you set triggers from the likes of activity recognition, time or location triggers which will show notification, launch homescreen etc. If you’re not good with setting rules, this app comes with a Rules Market where you can download and use rules setup by other AutomateIt users. The downloads will require points, which you can gain by creating rules, sharing rules on social networks, inviting friends to use the app or buying them.

If you’re familiar with IFTTT, Atooma will be real easy to use. It uses the conditional events via IF and DO. With that you can create your trigger and action rules. The interface is color-coordinated to make it easier to setup rules and triggers. Not big on setting up rules? Then download rules or draw inspiration from what other Atooma users have setup.

Protect Yourselves From Attacks On Public WiFi Networks With WiFi Protector

  •  238EmailShare

WiFi Protector - Android app

All the anti-virus programs in the world won’t help you if you log on the public WiFi at a coffee shop. Most of us do it to check our emails, log-in to facebook or google something. Now it’s so usual that you see half the people in any coffee shop on their Smartphones. But that has hidden dangers.

In a public network without any serious security measures, like most coffee places, any experienced user can:

• Steal our passwords
• Cyber stalk us
• Access our social profiles
• Disrupt our Internet traffic
• Having stolen our passwords, access our banking account

The cause for that are the known security assessment tools, which have already been transferred to applications that anyone can use. With the touch of a button anyone can see who is logged on a network and maybe even access our devices. Tests have been performed in a controlled environment with the most known Android tools and with WiFi Protector in our device we are protected from all of them.

WiFi Protector is a simple application which runs in the background when we are connected to a WiFi network. If another device attempt to use an attack against us, the application warns us that we’re under attack and even shows us the IP and MAC address of the device attacking us. That means that we know the guilty party and we can even have them prosecuted. Since the MAC address is unique to each device the authorities will be able to find them. The application has the ability to shut down our device’s WiFi any time it’s attacked, although if we had the root option activated we can continue our browsing uninterrupted and fully protected.

The most common attacks from Android devices are:

• ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) spoofing/poisoning
• MiTM (Man in The Middle)
• DoS (Denial of Service)

If you are ever attacked like that, you shouldn’t let it be. You never know what the attacker has gotten from your device. These attacks are illegal and you should contact the authorities if you think you have been attacked.

You should download the application from Play Store for free and install it on all your Android devices immediately.

To know more about the functionality of the WiFi Protector, have a look at the following video.

Microsoft releases OneNote for free on Mac and Windows, adds new note-taking tools

Attention note-takers: Your on-screen scribbling options just got a whole lot more diversified and a whole lot cheaper, thanks to the release of free OneNote programs for Macs and PCs alike—releases buoyed by new features that bursts OneNote's note-taking functionality out of the service's walled garden and into the arms of third-party sources.

Though a OneNote app has been available on iOS devices for a while, the new release of an app for home and school use only marks the Evernote competitor's virgin foray into the world of Apple-powered PCs. Macworld spent some hands-on time with the software and already has in-depth impressions of OneNote for Mac available.

onenote windows

OneNote's Windows desktop program is now free. (Click to enlarge.)

Likewise, while OneNote has long been freely available as standalone Windows 8 and Windows Phone apps, PC users used to have to pony up for Office to gain access to the note-taking software. No more! The desktop OneNote program is now freely available to all, though it lacks the Outlook integration, Sharepoint support, and version history capabilities of the paid software. (Buying Office 2013 or Office 365 adds those capabilities.) All the core features are there and fully functional, however. Even better, it's ad-free.

OneNote, many sources

Microsoft also baked in some new, Evernote-esque abilities to allow you to save notes from outside sources.

office lens onenote clean

The Office Lens WP app automatically crops, cleans, and rejiggers photos to make the pictures readable, as shown in this Microsoft-supplied example.

The new OneNote Clipper bookmark lets Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari users seamlessly save snapshots of webpages to their Quick Notes. Forwarding messages and web links on your phone to a new me@onenote.com address does the same, assuming you're using the email address associated with your OneNote account. Meanwhile, the new Office Lens camera app for Windows Phones basically functions as a scanner for OneNote, complete with optical character recognition technology good for capturing text in hand notes, paper documents, and whiteboards.

The new functionality doesn't end in Microsoft's arms, however. The company also announced a OneNote API that allows third-party developers to connect to the note-taking service, and the fruits of that labor are already visible in the OneNote app store.

The freebie OneNote programs and all the new apps and features are already available on OneNote.com.

Intel Announces Plans For An 8-Core CPU With Support For DDR4

intel_devils_canyon

The chip giant is back in business! The desktop side of the business, that is. For far too long the company has focused on mobile processors, but the company is ready to return to its desktop PC roots.

It has just made official a new beast with 8 cores and 16 threads. Mamma Mia!

Even the press release that Intel fired off talks about reinvention of the desktop computing, and it reveals that this new chip that should be out in the second half of 2014 will be part of the company’s Extreme Edition family of processors.

Support for DDR4 memory comes standard on this upcoming Core i7 CPU, though further details on its clock speed and price are not available. Expect to part ways with a heavy bag of coins, nevertheless.

The chip maker is also ready to launch an unlocked fourth generation Core processor (codenamed Devil’s Canyon) in the middle of the year that will provide an improved thermal interface and packaging to ensure much better overclocking.

Enthusiasts be pleased.

Good news for nostalgia lovers too, because Intel plans to release an Anniversary Edition of its Pentium processor in an effort to celebrate the popular brand that launched nearly 21 years back. It, too, is due out in the second half of the year.

And to top it all off, the company also hinted that the upcoming fifth generation Broadwell line of CPUs will come with Iris Pro Graphics and in unlocked versions. No release dates, though.

OneNote Will Remain Free Forever, Promises Microsoft

onenote_logo

Redmond’s answer to the supremacy of Evernote, OneNote launched on the Mac platform recently. Better yet, the company made this version along with the Windows flavor free of charge.

And now company talked about this fine piece of software, and what improvements we can expect in the future. The OneNote team took part in an AMA session on Reddit to share their plans, saying that they have been working on this free version of the application for more than a year.

In fact, the plans to make it available free of charge were hatched after the launch of Windows 8 back in October 2012. That’s some deep, deep planning, if you ask me!

However, the best bit here is that the application will always be free — sure, certain features will only be available with a paid license, but on the whole OneNote is to be considered a freeware.

As one member of the OneNote team put it:

“Forever! We intend to have a free version on all platforms forever. That’s the plan. We will have premium features for users who buy an Office 365 subscription or one of the Office suites.

For example if you want to use OneNote for business against SharePoint or Office 365, that will be a paid feature, and some other features like version history. But the vast bulk of features will be free. Everything in the Mac app we just launched will continue to be free.”

Microsoft has been paying particular attention to its productivity apps for some time now.

Part of that has got to do with the new management at the helm that wants the company to get back to its software roots. Microsoft is also actively working on expanding its popular Office suite of productivity application to more platforms, iOS and Android.

The focus on cloud and business software is plain evident here.

12 Ways To Speed Up Windows 7 And Improve System Performance

Windows 7 is the most popular and the most used Windows ever. It is crafted for speed and the best user experience. But like every edition of Windows this too slows down with time. This is not the problem with the OS, but with the unwanted files and services that starts to accumulate. So to Speed Up Windows 7, here is our detailed guide. Just follow each step carefully and you will have a faster Windows 7.

1. Using a Mix of Visual Effects and Performance

Windows 7 comes with many visual tweaks which provides it an amazing look and feel. But this comes against a cost, cost of performance. But we can disable these effects individually to speed up Windows 7.

Disabling Visual Effects in Windows 7

  1. Open Start Menu, right-click on Computer and select Properties.
    Computer Properties
  2. Now in the window that opens, select Advanced System Settings in the top left.
    advanced system settings
  3. Go to Advanced tab and select Settings under Performance menu.
    visual effects
  4. Under Visual Effects tab you have four options. Either you can get the best Visual Appearance with degraded performance, or get the best performance with an ugly-looking operating system or you can let Window's choose the best configuration for you or you can play with the individual options and decide yourself.
    Alter Visual Effects

TIPIf you are on an older computer or a computer with a basic configuration then I would recommend you to select Adjust for Best Performance option. The look will be a little less attractive but it will Speed Up Windows 7 for sure.

2. Disable Start-Up Programs That Are Not Used Frequently

Most of the programs today register themselves to start up at every boot. This is done to speed up the loading of program when you run it. But these load every time you start your computer and add to the boot time. So to speed up your PC you can disable the ones you use less often.

Steps To Disable Start-up Programs :

  1. Open Start Menu and type msconfig and hit Enter.
    open msconfig windows 7
  2. In the System Configuration window that pops up, go to the Startup tab.
  3. Now uncheck all the startup processes that you don't want to be loaded at startup, or precisely the ones you don't use often.
    disable start up programs

TIP The more applications you disable here, the less will be the boot up time.

3. Clean Temporary, Obsolete and Unwanted Files

Windows stores many temporary files when you install any program or install windows updates. It also stores the backups of update packages, backups of service pack, offline web pages, thumbnail cache, etc. But over the time they become obsolete and are no longer required by the system and thus should be removed. Windows gives you a simple solution to delete these unwanted files.

How To Remove Obsolete And Unwanted Files :

  1. Go to My Computer
  2. Right Click on the Windows installation drive ( usually C: or with a Windows logo on it ) and click on Properties
    Computer Drive Properties
  3. Now select Disk Cleanup under General tab.
    Drive Properties
  4. Now in the Window that pops up select all the options and click OK.
    Disk Cleanup Windows 7
  5. When prompted confirm the action.
  6. You can additionally delete System Restore points and Shadow Copies if you wish to, these are the backups that Windows take so that you can any time go back in time and all your files will be restored. This is found in the More Options tab. Deleting these restore points is completely safe since the most recent backup will not be deleted.
    clean up System Restore

4. Defragmenting Disk Drives

Fragmentation is the process of splitting a file into many segments. This is done by the operating system when there is not much space available in continuous memory locations. So the OS splits the file and stores it into different parts of the drive. But this increases the access time of the file because now the OS needs to look for different parts for the file in different locations. So defragmentation is a process by which all the parts of the file are rearranged and moved to a continuous memory location.

Perform Disk Defragmentation in Windows 7

  1. Go to Start Menu
  2. Then traverse to All Programs > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter, or you can simply type Defragment in the search box in the Start Menu and then select Defragment and Optimise Drives.
  3. Now click on the drive you want to defragment and then click on Analyze disk.
    disk defragmentation
  4. After this click on Defragment disk.

NOTE I recommend you to schedule the defragmentation of the drives at least once in a week and specially for the Windows installation drive.

5. Disable Unneeded Services or Make Them Manual

Like startup programs there are many services that load at startup. They consume RAM and slow down the PC. But the good thing is, you have the authority to disable them too.

Disable Service To Speed Up Windows 7

  1. Open Start Menu and type services.msc and hit Enter.
    open services
  2. Now in the Services window you will see hundreds of services listed. Just read the description of each service and see if it needs to be run automatically at every boot or you want to start it whenever required.
    disable services
  3. You have four options to choose from for each service. This can be done by right clicking on any service ans selecting Properties.
    1. You can disable a service.
    2. You can make it run automatically.
    3. You can make it run manually.
    4. You can make it to run Automatically but delayed, which means it will run after your Operating System and the programs are finished booting.

delay disable services Windows 7 Speed Up

TIP If the description is not enough to help you choose, then search with the service's name on the web and you will have a plenty of answers

6. Install Only Important Software

Install only the essential software on your machine. The more software you install, the more is the memory consumption and hence less is the speed. Moreover, the software also consume hard disk space. You should also uninstall unused software from time to time. Make it a habit of checking the installed software every month and uninstall those you have stopped using.

Managing Installed Programs

  1. Click on Start Menu and type Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Select Add or Remove programs and here you can uninstall any program that you don't use.

Remember When you install any trial software and if after the trial you don't feel like buying it, then do uninstall these softwares and don't let them to eat up your resources.

7. Disable or Optimize Windows Search Indexing

Windows 7′s Search is great but it takes high amount of resources. When your computer is running, it continuously works in the background and indexes your files to give you instant results. So, if you do not use Windows search or use it on rare occasions then you should either disable it or optimize it by limiting the locations which are indexed by Windows search.

Disable or Optimize Windows Search

  1. Open Start Menu and type Indexing Options.
  2. Open Indexing Options.
  3. Now in the Indexing Options window, click on modify and choose the locations as per your requirements.
disable tune up indexing Windows 7

TIP Use Windows Search only for "Start Menu" and "User Files" like in the screenshot above. For other files, use a software like Everything instead of Windows default search. It gives faster search results and indexes in just a couple of seconds.

8. Speed Up Windows 7 Using ReadyBoost

ReadyBoost allows you to use a USB stick as a Cache memory, it's as simple as that. The USB devices needs to have a minimum capacity of 256 MB and a 64 KBs of free space.

Speeding Up Windows 7 using Ready Boost

  1. Attach any USB disk to your system.
  2. Open Computer, right click on the USB drive and select Properties.
  3. Now go to the ReadyBoost tab and select Dedicate the device to ReadyBoost to give all the available free space to ReadyBoost or manually select the size by selecting Use this device.
    ReadyBoost Windows 7

NOTE ReadyBoost is not available for Solid State Drives.

9. Make Windows 7 Favor Performance Over Power Savings

Windows 7 can be set to save power or to deliver High Performance. When set for High Performance the battery consumption is high but you will get an improved system performance.

NOTE The increase in performance depends on the type of task you are performing and will not be equal every time.

To Use High Performance Plan

  1. Open Start Menu and type Power Plan.
  2. Select Choose a Power Plan from the search results.
  3. In the Window that opens select High Performance.
    high performance Windows 7

TIP Use Power Saver or Balanced plan when on batteries and "High Performance" plan when using the system on AC power.

10. Use a Good And Trusted Antivirus Software

Viruses and Spywares are bad for the system and hamper security and reliability. These also slow down the system by issuing random requests, moving files and what not. If you are running any version of Windows then you must have a good antivirus installed. I use Microsoft Security Essentials, the best and the free solution from Microsoft. I have used it since it came to the market and it has been successful in keeping all the malwares and viruses off my system.

Link : Microsoft Security Essentials

11. Decrease Boot Timeout

Boot timeout is the amount of time for which the OS shows the options to select the OS when you have multiple active operating systems installed, or the time for which it shows the menu for startup repair, or any other menu while booting up the computer. This is by default set to 30 seconds on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. But this is a lot of time user will ever take to make a choice. Decrease it to whatever the least value you want. In my case I have Windows 7 and Windows 8 installed and I have set the Boot Timeout to 3 seconds.

How To Decrease the Boot Timeout

  1. Open Start Menu and type msconfig and press Enter.
  2. Now go to the Boot tab and under Boot Options, change the value of Timeout to a value between 3 to 20 seconds.
    Boot Timeout
  3. Press OK

NOTE This may seem to have no or very less impact on the system performance, but in cases where you have multiple operating systems installed, then the performance is largely improved and it saves a lot of time.

12. NO GUI Boot

Windows while booting up shows a nice animated logo. It is visibly very attractive but also take huge resources. To speed up Windows 7 you must disable this animation.

How To Enable No GUI Boot

  1. Open Start Menu and Type msconfig and hit Enter.
  2. In the System Configuration window that opens, go to the Boot tab.
  3. Now, tick the No GUI Boot option under Boot Options Menu.
No GUI Boot Speed Up Windows 7
  4. Click on apply and press OK.

WARNING After enabling NO GUI BOOT you won't see the Windows's animated logo and instead will see a black screen. Don't think that your Windows has gone corrupt or the computer has hanged, instead it's still fully functional and is booting faster.

Verdict

If you follow all the above steps wisely than your boot time will greatly decrease. All the steps are safe to follow. If you are still not satisfies and want to improve system performance even more than you can consider upgrading your system or by simply getting a Solid State Drive (SSD), if it's supported by your machine. I have seen great increase in performance by replacing the normal drives with SSDs.

Report: WhatsApp to Add Voice Calling

WhatsApp used the Mobile World Congress stage in Barcelona to announce plans for the upcoming launch of voice messaging.

Days after Facebook purchased the application in a $16 billion deal, CEO Jan Koum told audiences today that his company will add voice calls in the second quarter of the year.

"We are driven by the mission that people should be able to stay in touch anywhere and affordably," Koum said during a speech, as reported by Reuters. "Our goal is to be on every mobile phone in the world."

WhatsApp users can already send voice messages to contacts—just press and hold the microphone icon above the keyboard. But this upcoming addition would function more like a telephone call than a voicemail, according to CNET.

he move will certainly up the ante for global mobile network operators, who will soon have a tough competitor; WhatsApp has more than 450 million monthly active users on the Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Nokia S40, Symbian, and Windows Phone platforms.

Facebook-WhatsApp deal

Did you know that Facebook's acquisition of #WhatsApp is by far the biggest tech deal. Even bigger than any that #Google, #Apple or #Microsoft has ever done

Why did Facebook spend $19 billion on a messaging app?

WhatsApp is a voice and text instant messaging platform with apps for most every smartphone OS. It provides free service for the first year and costs a dollar annually after that. Why then, did Facebook just buy WhatsApp -- aside from the obvious cachet, keeping it away from Google and free advertising that comes with its omnipresence in Katy Perry's Roar video -- for $19 billion (with a 'b'), when it already has Facebook Messenger?

In a word: users. 450 million of them to be precise, and 315 million of those are active on a given day. In fact, WhatsApp's users are so prolific, its messaging volume is roughly equal to that of the entire world's SMS traffic. And, WhatsApp is huge overseas and in emerging markets. According to a report from mobile marketing and research firm Jana, the app is far and away the most used messaging service in India, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria and South Africa. The Information, which got a more in depth look at Jana's research, shows that Facebook Messenger usage is far, far lower in those same countries.

Now, is that massive international user base worth $19 billion? It's hard for us to understand how it possibly could be. WhatsApp's founders have pledged to keep the app ad- and gimmick-free, so there aren't any indications that new revenue streams are coming. And, while the acquisition fits in perfectly with Facebook's plan to expand its app offerings, the social network has promised to use the same hands-off approach it did with Instagram -- leveraging its "expertise, resources and scale" to grow the platform, while keeping WhatsApp operationally independent. So, we'll have to wait and see how WhatsApp plans to prove its worth. Maybe some more music video synergy like the kind found after the break?

How to Root your Android

Rooting your android device, whether smart phone or tablet, means that you are working to unlock its operating system like that in jailbreaking an iphone. This process helps the user to upgrade the OS, allow installation of a greater variety of applications and replacing of the firmware will be permissible and help in customization of almost everything in the device even the processor.
Name: Root.jpg Views: 156 Size: 30.9 KB
However it is not a normal routine process. With its advantages comes a lot of risk factors as well. Some of problems that it can cause, if the rooting goes wrong include the following:

· Your device warranty will be considered void if gone back for repairs as a rooted device.
· It can lead to the situation called bricking the device meaning it will be locked and will serve no purpose or function.
· It may be more risky and vulnerable after rooting as security parameters will be changed.

Rooting your device may come with both pros and cons, but it is an ongoing process and there are many applications and softwares that are supporting of this activity. One such windows utility is called Kingo Android Root. This is a free program that makes rooting easy and quick. With just one click you can root and unroot your device. But it is vitally important that you must check the device’s compatibility first.

Four easy steps that can be followed to root your android device are as follows:

Step No. 1:
You must download the Kingo Android Root software and install it on your device.
Step No. 2:
Make sure that USB debugging mode of your device is fully enabled. For this you must go into settings, enter developer options and select the option for USB Debugging. Save these settings to enable the rooting process to go further.
Step No. 3:
You must now start the Kingo Android Root program on your computer or laptop and make sure that the device is connected with it using the USB or data transfer cable.
Step No. 4:
Once you have clicked the root tab, all you have to do is wait and watch the program do its wonder. It will at the end, reboot the device automatically and provide the rooted android device at the end.

This is how to root your android, easily and simply with just one click. The utility also gives you the option of unrooting by following the same process again and clicking remove root.

How much money can I make?
The average rate of pay is $4.00 per thousand clicks. $4.00 may sound small, but just think for a second. How many people use Facebook? Over 500 million people use Facebook on a daily basis. If you could get even a small portion of Facebook users to click on your links, you could be earning a tidy amount of money. A great way to attract lots of users to click on your links is to set up a Facebook group. Many of these groups have more than a million users - so if you get your thinking cap on, you can make good money very quickly!!!. You can also make more money by making videos and post them to Youtube and leave a link in the description.

You can also earn much money by bringing referrals. Personally I have earned more money from my refs than from other ways (learn how to get hundreds of referrals easily)
