Although iOS client has had the ability to hide the last seen for a while now, the Android update sees added features such as the ability to hide the profile image as well as status message from everyone or simply show them to the contacts in your phone book depending upon your preference.
This update had been coming for a while now, and finally thanks to this update, security concerns such as people stalking each other will be taken care of. Once you have downloaded the new apk and installed it, it is very easy to turn the privacy settings. Open Whatsapp and go into Settings. Click on Account there and click on Privacy. Under privacy, you have three options of ‘Last Seen’, ‘Profile Photo’ and ‘Status’. You can toggle the options here based on what level of privacy you wish to have on the application. You have the option of hiding these from everybody, showing it to just your contacts or making everything public and showing it to everybody.
