For all these years, I was under the impression that it’s impossible to recover deleted files from hard drives using free software. I tried out a ton of applications over the years, but nothing seemed to fit the bill. To scan a drive for deleted files, you can either click the big Recover button next to selected drive or click the down arrow button next to Recover button to choose between Run all recovery methods, Undelete protected data, Quick Scan, and Deep Scan.
Besides that there is an option to backup a volume or partition as
DMG image, which is useful if you quickly want to backup your failing your hard drive to a new drive.
How much time does it need to scan for deleted files? Well, it’s a difficult question to answer as the time required to scan for deleted files will depend on the size of the drive, and the selected scan mode. All I can say is that it’s quite fast.
