Disk Drill: Probably The Best Free Data Recovery Software

For all these years, I was under the impression that it’s impossible to recover deleted files from hard drives using free software. I tried out a ton of applications over the years, but nothing seemed to fit the bill. More often than not, free data recovery software help you recover all files except the file that you really want to recover!
Whenever required, I would use the data recovery tool in the Tune Up Utilities software (now AVG PC TuneUp) to retrieve deleted files, as the trial copy of the software doesn’t come with any limitations. I have always been recommending the same software to everyone who asked me to suggest a good and easy-to-use data recover software for Windows.

Finally, it seems there is a good data recovery software for Windows operating system. Those of you looking for a free data recovery software for Windows should first check out Disk Drill software before trying out anything else. Users who own both Windows PC and Mac will know that Disk Drill is a premier Mac data recovery software and is quite popular among Mac users. Above all, Disk Drill for Mac is not free!
The Windows version of Disk Drill is absolutely free and is probably the best free application available to recover your files with ease. The user interface of Disk Drill is easy-to-understand and use.
Coming to features, Disk Drill can recover data from any storage device. In simple English, you can use Disk Drill to recover deleted files from hard drives (both internal and external), USB flash drives, memory card, iPhone and iPad. The Recovery Vault is one of the highlights of the program. Recovery Vault, when enabled for drive(s), keeps a record of all deleted files to help users quickly identify deleted files and recover them. By default, Recovery Vault is turned off. Click the Protect link next to a drive and then click on the On button to enable the same. Those of you who don’t want to enable this feature for an entire drive can only choose folders that you want to protect.

Like its competitors, Disk Drill also allows you recover partitions. As mentioned before, the UI is very easy-to-understand. There are no complicated options or settings to confuse you. To scan a drive for deleted files, you can either click the big Recover button next to selected drive or click the down arrow button next to Recover button to choose between Run all recovery methods, Undelete protected data, Quick Scan, and Deep Scan.

Besides that there is an option to backup a volume or partition as DMG image, which is useful if you quickly want to backup your failing your hard drive to a new drive.
How much time does it need to scan for deleted files? Well, it’s a difficult question to answer as the time required to scan for deleted files will depend on the size of the drive, and the selected scan mode. All I can say is that it’s quite fast.

The download size of Disk Drill is about 16 MB and is fully compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and the newest Windows 10.
All-in-all, I am pretty much impressed with Disk Drill software. The UI is elegant, and moreover, this data recovery software really works
